Dental Bridges

The dental bridge is a permanent method of teeth replacement used to fill a gap created by a missing tooth or a few missing teeth. Cemented permanently to patient's natural teeth, the dental bridge is a highly efficient and comfortable prosthetic solution. Dental bridges attached to natural abutment teeth (teeth supporting dental prosthesis) restore missing teeth both aesthetically and functionally. Our dental practice offers full ceramic (porcelain) bridges or veneered bridges called porcelain fused to metal (PFM) dental bridges. Below there is a simplified description of the dental bridge procedure:

   - first appointment: after examining your teeth and planning your prosthetic replacement, your dentist prepares two carefully chosen abutment teeth that are supposed to support the bridge. The procedure is carried out under anaesthetic and is completely painless. Next, your dentist takes impressions of the teeth and sends them to a dental laboratory manufacturing prosthetic bridges. You will have a temporary bridge placed in your oral cavity so that the gums and the chosen abutment teeth can be protected until the permanent bridge has been fabricated.
   - second appointment: your dentist carefully checks and adjusts the permanent bridge in your oral cavity making all necessary alterations. Then, the bridge is returned to the laboratory to make final improvements.
   - third appointment: carefully fitted and checked, the bridge is ready to be cemented permanently in your oral cavity.
