Dental Crowns

The dental crown is an artificial replacement for the natural tooth crown used to restore a broken tooth to its original shape or size and to preserve its function. The dental crown is an ideal restorative solution in cases when traditional filling methods cannot be applied. Our dental practice offers all-ceramic (all-porcelain crowns) and porcelain-faced crowns. Both types of crowns allow a patient to achieve the desired aesthetic and functional effects. Below there is a simplified description of the crown attachment procedure.
The crown procedure usually requires two appointments:

   - first appointment: after your tooth has been examined and accepted for the procedure, your dentist needs to prepare the tooth in order to fit the crown properly. Tooth preparation is performed under anaesthetic and is completely painless. Next, an impression of the teeth is made by your dentist and sent to a dental laboratory where the crown will be made. Finally, you will have a temporary crown bonded to the tooth in order to cover it and maintain its functionality until the permanent crown has been finished.
   - second appointment: after checking and fitting the permanent crown, the temporary one is removed, the tooth is cleaned and the new crown is permanently cemented by your dentist.
