Surgical extraction of third molars

The times when tooth extraction was associated with stress and unbearable pain are gone for ever. Nowadays, even the extraction of third molars, commonly known as wisdom or eighth teeth, is performed under perfect local anaesthetic. Local anaesthesia reduces unpleasant treatment sensations to the minimum and allows patients to function properly right after dressing the wound of an extracted tooth.

     - significant decay of the third molar in cases when root canal treatment cannot be performed
     - inflammatory condition around the impacted third molar caused by its disturbed eruption
     - third molar impaction; if there is not enough space in the dental arch, which eliminates the chances for the tooth to erupt properly, the extraction is performed to prevent serious complications that may result from impaction, e.g. a dentigerous cyst
     - orthodontic reasons; in cases when the erupting third molar causes other teeth to shift and spoils the aesthetic in the maxillary or mandibular anterior region
